Recent Events

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that children of migrant farmworkers have access to the same free, appropriate public education, including public preschool education, provided to other children. To achieve this purpose, the MEP helps state and local education agencies to remove barriers to school enrollment, attendance, and academic achievement of migrant children. Migrant Education Program supportive services, including identification and recruitment activities, are designed to implement the steps necessary to carry out this important work. As such, these activities, conducted in every school district where migrant children reside, are the foundation of the Migrant Education Program.
